This Valentines Day BeadTrails in Summerland is hosting an Aussie style BBQ supporting bushfire recovery and containment efforts in Australia.
A twenty dollar donation provides you a ‘Bead by Bead” custom bead pairing of a koala and locally crafted Australian continent bead. A Burgers or Brat, provided by Nesters Market – Summerland, and a glass of wine served by Heaven's Gate Estate Winery or Hot Signature Cocktail from Maple Leaf Spirits Inc. Additional liquor tokens will be available for purchase.
Sweet fixings will be offered by Maple Roch Pure Canadian Maple Syrup, Nummers Gourmet will be serving dessert with craft beer sampling’s available from Detonate Brewing Company.
Tickets are $20.00, a silent auction will be offered at the event which runs 4:00 – 8:00 pm.
The news and images of devastation hit us hard. Heavy rains have now contained the fires, at least 3000 homes have been destroyed, 33 people lost their lives and 500,000 hectares of vegetation with endless numbers of animals killed. Now according to CNN, torrential rainfall sweeping in this week has brought major flooding, damaging winds and dangerous surf, with severe thunderstorms forecast for the coming days.
